Musician and singer Shai Sol recently defended her faith in Jesus when she auditioned on 'Kochav Haba' (which means 'The Next Star'), the number one singing competition show in Israel. The 20-year-old Israeli musician revealed her religious beliefs when she spoke to the show's judges Rotem Sela and Assi Azar in a pre-audition interview on the popular Israeli show. "It seems right to reveal [that] I am a Messianic Jewess. We believe in Yeshua (Jesus)," said Sol to the two 'Kochav Haba' judges. "[We are] Jews who believe in the Tanakh and the New Testament."

Shai's mother further explained that Messianic Judaism is a "stream of Judaism because the New Testament belonged to us before they took it to Christianity." Shai then publicized that she would not conceal her faith when Azar advised to omit her religious beliefs when the actual audition interview for the signing competition would take place. Azur, an openly gay man, explained why he does not understand why the young singer's faith should be broadcasted when she is only there to perform on the signing competition. "As someone who is part of a minority that our society is very liberal in a lot of ways, but in others it is ugly and not liberal," said Azur. However, Azur's colleague Sela passionately disagreed with her fellow judge's viewpoint concerning Shai's proclamation of faith on the hit Israeli singing contest. "This is who she is," said Sela to Azar. "If there are people who won't accept that, the problem is with them. [Shai] does not need to conceal who she is." After Shai performed her song to the above-mentioned judges, she advanced the next phase of the popular singing competition.
